Job interviews are not always fun. Sometimes we can freeze up in the
middle of a job interview. Other times we think of good answers after
the interview is done. One good technique is to include your new thought
of answer in the job
interview follow up letter . You can start the letter by mentioning how
much you appreciate the opportunity to interview for the available
position. Then take time to complement the person whom interviewed you.
You can even try to record some personal comments the two of you might
have shared. Usually in every interview, especially in the beginning,
there is a warming up time. This is a time when the two of you may
exchange some personal facts. Use things that were exchanged during that
time and place it in your letter.
The questions still remains: how do you handle the unusual
interview questions? If they asked you, “If you were a fruit or
vegetable, what kind would you be? ” Or maybe they might ask, “If you
were a color, what color would you be?” There are all kind of weird
interview questions that can be asked.
The best way to handle these questions is to keep the goal in mind.
There is always an hidden agenda by these questions. Remember that
hiring managers hire people to solve problems. When a position is
vacant, things get backed up and there are things left undone. Your
ultimate goal is to find out what things they are and convince them that
you can fix it. When you have solved that issue, the only thing that is
left is the money issue. In fact, the more you can convince them that
you will hit the ground running, the higher the salary they will offer.
Keep these principles in mind and win over that interview!
